X/C MTB Race - Elgin - Thursday 04/03.

This Thursday night sees Moray Mountain Bike club hold its first X/C Night-Time Race, at Monaughty Woods in Elgin

It's an unofficial circuit race, with the winner completing as many laps as they can in an hour.

Arrive around 7.00pm Monaughty Car Park to pre-ride the route - Race Starts 7.30pm.

If anyone is interested in joining me, please let me know.

You'll just need a bike, lights and a helmet.

Entry for the first event is free of charge

Hi Dave

Trust you are well and fighting fit, I was trying to locate Monaughty on the map but couldnt figure out where exactly this is any ideas.

Also what type of course is it likely to be, if its a muddy one I will need to change tyres.

Hey Ivan - Update !

Course shouldn't be muddy (apparently) all XC, drains well and will have a couple of fireroad sections, could be a bit icy in sections - spiked tyres ?

Meeting at the Monaughty Car Park, on Pluscarden Road (This is the one before Miltonduff, with toilets and kids play area) around 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start. I'll be cycling through from Forres, racing & cycling back.

Good race last night X/C very dark, hilly & icy though Monaughty Wood, so a few close calls and some very nasty steps to navigate

Came 4th out of 8 - Approx 16miles - both bike & rider needed hosing down after the race.

Next one in the Moray series in 2 weeks time at Fochabers.
