FORRES CYCLING CLUB
SUMMER LEAGUE 2011
The Summer League will start on Tuesday 3 May 2011 at 7 p.m., at Waterford Road (outside Keith Builders’ Merchants, north of Forres bypass) and then every Tuesday until 16 August 2011.
The circuit is 3.9 miles long, on very quiet roads.
RULES
1. Riders start at 30-second intervals.
2. Points are gained on rider’s own improvement each week.
3. New riders will begin on one lap and progress to multiple laps on attaining a time standard (see below).
4. Riders who have competed in the previous season may, on their first week of participation, elect the number of laps on which they start the new season, up to and including the number of laps attained in the previous season. Progress thereafter will be in accordance with the time standards set out below.
5. When a rider moves up to an additional lap, on the first week, the maximum points available will be 1, as they set a new base time for the new distance. In subsequent weeks, points will be awarded on improvement on this new base time.
6. Cycle helmets should be worn.
7. Any bicycle will do, providing it is human-powered.
8. Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
9. Points are awarded each week, as follows:
Completion of distance: 1 point
Improvement by up to 30 seconds: 2 points
Improvement by between 31 and 60 seconds: 3 points
Improvement by more than 60 seconds: 4 points.
TIME STANDARDS
On achieving: 1 lap in under 14 minutes, proceed to 2 laps.
2 laps in under 26 minutes, proceed to 3 laps.
3 laps in under 36 minutes, proceed to 4 laps.
4 laps in under 45 minutes 30 seconds, proceed to 5 laps.
Entry fee, which goes towards trophies and event insurance, is £1 per week. Junior club membership for under 16s is £5 per annum and is payable after the third week of competing. Only club members will be eligible for prizes at the end of the season.
