Could you recycle an old parachute?
Failing that I think you can get goretex lined cables.

I have Nokon cabvles on my timetrial bike they can cope with difficult routing without snagging.

I bought mine from Dave Kane last year on a special offer.

Been reading the reviews and I'm edgeing towards the gore ones and they're 20 quid cheaper, however they dont come in red!
