Forres man Peter Etttles riding for Sandy Wallace Cycles become the first rider from Forres to break the 30 miles per hour barrier in a time trail. Many riders will hit 30mph in a race when going down hill or when assisted by the wind on the flat but Peter was able to maintain and at times exceed 30mph over the 10 miles distance of the race. He recorded a time of 19minutes 34 seconds a near minute beating of his fastest time ever. He was absolutely over the moon with his result and the long journey to the Levens course in Cumbria was well worth it. Peter was the fastest rider in the veterans event. Though he has competed in events with 120 riders before he was amazed to find that there were 250 riders competing in events on the same course during the day. On Sunday Peter was allocated an early starting slot and the cold hindered what could have been another person best performance where he recorded a time of 53m 58s on of but not his best times at this distance.

Forres riders travelled to Garlogie near Aberdeen for the last 10 mile timetrial of their season. Hoping to replicate their previous weeks times the riders were disappointed to find that the event was run on a cold windy day. The wind seemed to hamper progress on the outward and on parts of the homward route. The riders found that their times were nearly 2 minutes slower that the previous weeks events. Laura Gunn was disappointed as she had hoped to capitalise on new found racing form having punctured the previous week and was seeking to improve on her personal best of a few weeks ago.Laura recorded a time of 31m 20 s Murray Grant 32m 15s George Grant 28m 50s and Hamish Aitchison 26m 6s.

The racing season is now over and riders are already preaping for next season. There is a junior club run every Saturday led by at lest two of the more experienced members of the club.
